Table Mountain, wine country and two oceans at the tip of Africa.
Cape Town is set between Table Mountain and the sea. A cable car climbs to the flat top for views over the city and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held, and the V&A Waterfront is busy with restaurants and boat trips.
The Cape Peninsula drive passes Chapman's Peak, the penguins of Boulders Beach and Cape Point. Inland, the Winelands of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Constantia are less than an hour away, and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden climbs the slopes of Table Mountain.
The summer months, November to March, are warm and dry, and the time difference with the UK is small.
