Qatar's waterfront capital, with landmark museums, a lively old souk and a long corniche.
Doha curves around a bay lined by the towers of West Bay on one side and the Museum of Islamic Art on the other. Between them runs a seven kilometre corniche where traditional dhows still moor and families walk in the evening.
Souq Waqif is the place for spices, perfume, falcons and dinner on a terrace. The National Museum of Qatar, shaped like a desert rose, tells the country's story, and The Pearl and Katara Cultural Village add marinas, beaches and galleries.
Doha also makes an easy stopover on the way to Africa or Asia. Winter, from November to March, is the most comfortable time to visit.
